
Transport Services In Cambodia
Cambodia's water transport adds a lot to the country's GDP because the state of its railways and roads is not very good. Phnom Penh and the Mekong River can be navigated conveniently but nowadays road transport has taken over it. Boat service is also there for passengers between Battambang and Siem Reap. Phnom Penh is very famous for its luxurious boat service.
But the boats between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh charge a lot even for sitting on the roof and the view is also not attractive. All throughout the time the boats are terribly overcrowded. Tonle Sap Lake is a huge sea and does not offer any beautiful scenic view.
The boats between Battambang and Siam reap are actually worth the money that you spend on their fair as the scenic beauty of the river is fascinating, but it is advisable to carry your sun block lotion to protect you from sun tan and cover your head with a cloth in case you end up on the roof of the boat; Although the speed of these small boats is slow when compared to express boats.

Long trail rocket boats are also available in between Strung Treng and Mekong River and are even faster than express boats but they can be dangerous too and it is advisable not to travel on them during the night time or when the boats are overcrowded.
Hitching is not recommended in any country but if you do love it, then better do it in pairs. Before trying hitching, keep in mind that you are inviting risk and honestly it is not an easy task to do. When you opt for hitching with truck drivers, let me tell you that it is extremely uncomforting and unsafe for lone women.
There is a large rage of bus transport in this country. You can take your pick from simple buses to air conditioned ones. A shared taxi, mini truck could also be considered as a good option.
There isn't really a taxi service available, bus the bus service of Cambodia has gotten much better, owing to the improving conditiosn of the roads. Travelers used this facility from Phnom Pneh, Battambang, Siam Reap, Kratie, Kompong Chang and Poipet.
Neat and convenient bus facility is also available in different towns and villages of Cambodia. The conductors' charge a nominal fee and English speaking personnel are a relief to foreign tourists. Mini buses are also there but are very uncomfortable, although they are not very expensive but the drivers drive maniacs. It is advisable to use them in the case of emergency.
Rents of bikes and cars are not very cheap in this country and are often used by many travelers to visit remote areas of Cambodia as they have the freedom to stop whenever they wish. Drivers are also provided with the car as the roads of some provinces are not in a good condition.
Usually the cars are covered under insurance but it is not same with bikes so you are required to sign a contract in case the bike gets stolen or is damaged.
